Racism

One of the most glaring problems I’ve observed in masonry is the blatant racism that runs rampant thought the “brotherhood.” for instance, I was at a lodge meeting about a week ago. There were two petitions, or membership applications, that were being voted on. Votes are cast using a private ballot box so no one can tell for certain how anyone voted. One of the two candidates had an obviously Middle Eastern name, and he was rejected. I would’ve thought nothing of it, but that a small group of men were talking about the vote during the social hour after the meeting. They said they had no intention of “handing the lodge over to a bunch of Muslim terrorists.”

This is not an isolated incident. I was visiting another lodge in the area a month ago, and I saw another disturbing display. This lodge was initiating an African American man – a very rare event indeed. As soon as the man entered the room and the masons saw him, a group of them stood up, took off their Masonic aprons, and left the lodge room. Afterwards, they were lobbing several racial slurs which shall not be mentioned here. They also said that “they should stick to their own kind, in their own lodges.”

You see, masonry has been segregated from the beginning. There are the “regular” lodges and the “colored” lodges, founded by Prince Hall, and specifically intended to be a place for minorities to practice the “brotherhood of man” supposedly practiced by their counterparts in regular lodges.

The incident a month ago is what inspired me to start this blog. This is exactly what I want to expose in this organization. I know that other masons will read this. I hope to hear of their experiences on this topic. I also know that nonmembers will also read this, and I want to hear their reactions to these deplorable acts.

Welcome

Freemasonry, the oldest fraternity in the world.  Its members brag about past members, including several US Presidents, Founding Fathers, and other great men throughout history.  However, present-day freemasonry is very different from the noble roots invoked by masons today.  The purpose of this blog is to bring the differences to light.

A bit about me:  I am a mason.  I live in a large metro area in the US Midwest.  I belong to a lodge in my home state and am only a visiting member in my local lodge.  My identity will remain private, as I may be exposing masonic “secrets.”  I hold a common belief among members, that there are no secrets in freemasonry.  Everything remotely “secret” I put here is readily available via Google.  My intention is not to expose “secrets,” but to bring to light the contradictions in freemasonry’s teachings of “brotherly love, relief, and truth.”

I have spoken to many people, both inside and outside of masonry.  I have quietly watched our officers, employees, and members, and I feel they are not living up to the oaths they took when they were initiated.  I encourage you to take part in the discussions here.  Feel free to ask me questions.  I hold freemasonry to a high standard.  That is why I am calling the organization on its hypocrisies.
